Tea Chronicles – Real Teas, Real People
Tea Chronicles are a London based tea site promoting real teas and real people behind the scenes of both making the truly remarkable leaves and selling them. Site started in 2012 in Croatia, with the intention of locally introducing real and high quality teas, mostly Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese, and providing all information that tea drinkers could find useful. In the last seven years almost 400 articles and 3000 unique tea photos have been published, mostly in Croatian, until the complete switch to English in 2017. Tea Chronicles strive to keep providing honest info about teas and tea market in general, as well as personal opinions based on experience and skills. All of articles and photos have been written and taken with lots of care and love.
In the beginning, there was a tea bag
I started drinking real tea when I was still in high school. I still remember the excitement of trying the first green tea in my life – very low quality extra cheap green tea bags (20 for $0.5). However, I could feel there is much more to explore. That was more than 15 years ago. I knew nothing about tea quality, varieties or harvesting times. Yet, my journey began.
Years that followed were filled with tea from dozens of different countries. My family and friends started bringing me tea from every country they visited. I tried thousand of kinds, and not a day passed by that I didn’t drink at least a few cups of tea. My storage boxes were filled with hundred of pouches. They still are. (Sometimes I like to pet new pouches, but don’t tell this to anyone.)
Tea site with unique photographs
What makes Tea Chronicles very different from any other tea site in the world are unique tea photographs and active contributions to community. With free literature and tea drinking events, tea parties for citizens and tea photo exhibitions, Tea Chronicles made a great impact on perceiving tea in Croatia. That would, of course, not be possible without wonderful sponsors from around the world. In 2017 I moved from Croatia to England, which made it possible to plan further tea projects. I hope you will stay with us in the upcoming years. (Iva, October 2018)
